How To

How to drive a nails in wood

It is essential to pick the right size and style of hammer before you can drive a nail in wood. The most commonly used types of Hammers are claw hammers. Each type of hammer comes with its advantages and disadvantages. For example, a claw hammer works best when you want to hit something hard, like nails; however, it's difficult to control precisely where the blow lands. The sledgehammer works well for large areas, but is too heavy for smaller tasks.

After you've chosen the right tool, hold your hand flat to the handle so it rests comfortably in one of your palms. Take the handle and hold it with both hands. But don't press down so hard you injure yourself. The hammer should be held straight up with your wrist relaxed. Then swing the hammer back toward the ground, aiming for the center of the nail. You should feel the impact on the nail from the hammer. Try swinging a hammer using a block wood to practice until you are comfortable.

The hammer should be held close to your body when you are ready to begin driving the nail. You will need to position the nail so it is parallel to the wood. Keep your focus on the tip of each nail. Then, swing the hammer forward. Next, follow the motion of your hammerhead. This can be repeated several times to increase the speed of your swing. When you are confident with the technique, add power to your swings. To make it more powerful, hold the hammer up high to your shoulder and then bring it down. This way, you'll be able to put more energy behind your blows.

Once you've nailed the first hole, remove the hammer from the nail. To pull out the remaining nails, use a screwdriver or pry bar. Keep the nails heads in line with the surface of the board to prevent splitting the wood.
